Work-from-home gift ideas for a beautiful, sustainable workspace

A round-up of our favourite desk accessories from the Leandesk team

So many of us are now working from home for at least part of the week and spending many hours in our own created workspaces. The team at Leandesk is no different – we all work from home and spend far more time than we’d like on Teams, with occasional jolly get togethers in person. On a call the other day we were all sharing our favourite accessories that help our own work set ups look and work better, so it felt like a lovely chance for a bit of a gift guide. We all feel that the best home office accessories aren’t just practical — they’re beautifully designed, ethically made or crafted by small businesses that genuinely care about the spaces we live and work in.

Unsurprisingly, every pick in this guide works well with a Leandesk and all share our core values: thoughtful design, sustainable materials and a commitment to doing things the right way. Whether you’re shopping for a remote-working friend or curating your own workspace for the year ahead, we hope you love our favourite accessories, all road tested by Team Lean.

Pooky – Scoon rechargeable table lamp

Priced from £75

Pooky – Scoon rechargeable table lamp
Pooky – Scoon rechargeable table lamp

This brilliant little light is super easy to pick up and move wherever you choose to work. It’s remarkably steady, with a weighted base, amazing battery life and super easy to charge. It looks just as good on a dining table or occasional table and can be dimmed with the touch of a finger. Coming in two sizes and nine gorgeous colours, Becca, our Business Manager, loves the Firecracker Red which looks right at home next to the red trims on the Leandesk (and I was so taken by it, I now have the smaller sized Wee Scoon in Rust in my kitchen!).

Becca has been a fan of Pooky for a long time as they are based close to her in Gloucestershire. Like us, Pooky don’t treat beautiful interiors and sustainability as mutually exclusive – their lamps and shades are thoughtfully made and packaged with recyclable or compostable materials. Their focus on quality, with products that are designed to last, reflects the same slow-design ethos that we feel embody at Leandesk.

Pedestal – Three socket power bar

Priced from £50

Pedestal – Three socket power bar
Pedestal – Three socket power bar

Henry, Leandesk’s designer, spotted these clever products at Design London Shoreditch, when we were neighbours at the Design at Work exhibition. Pedestal is a Danish interior brand that creates colourful and elegant solutions for homes. Henry was drawn to both the pared back Scandinavian design ethos and their functionality.

They have a host of lovely products, including the quirkiest little houses to keep your cables tidy, but a top pick would be their Power Bar – that comes in six gorgeous colourways – a far cry from the usual white plastic offering. It has a magnetic bottom that means it snaps neatly on to the metal rack on our Leandesks – the neatest and most elegant power solution – and gives you three power sockets for more a tech-heavy set up without any clutter.

It is currently available for EU plugs but coming very soon for the UK!

Good Tuesday

Notebook £6.95
A4 Weekly Planner Pad £12.50

Good Tuesday Notebook and A4 Weekly Planner Pad
Good Tuesday Notebook and A4 Weekly Planner Pad

This my personal pick (Emily, Sustainability Lead)! There are two things that drew me to Good Tuesday when I found them on Instagram some time ago – they are B Corp certified (which is exceptionally hard to achieve, so kudos to them) with a very evident commitment to creating a sustainable and ethical business model. Also, their products are just SO joyful – its hard not to feel a bit happier about the day ahead of you with their stationary on your desk. The fact they are also based in Cornwall is just a lovely coincidence!

I may be old school, but I am NEVER without a notebook – from meeting notes, to shopping lists and reminders to book the dog in for her booster jab. As a bit of a stationary geek, I choose my notebooks very carefully – and these A5 lined pads from Good Tuesday really do the job. Just the right size to throw in your bag and coming in a huge range of stunning designs. This burgundy and pink design lifts my mood and knowing its 100% recycled paper keeps my eco-conscious soul soothed.

Good Tuesday very kindly sent me one of their Weekly planner pads to test out and I am a convert! This pink and red planner pad if part of their Wes Anderson inspired collection, which brings a joyous retro vibe to your personal planning. With a busy house to run, I am now using these for family life – stuck to the fridge and choc-a-block full of bossy instructions!

Block Design – Sketch Desk Tidy

£15

Block Design – Sketch Desk Tidy
Block Design – Sketch Desk Tidy

Our Marketing Director, Jon, is without doubt the tidiest of us all – a methodical, calm presence. Nothing enters Jon’s office space unless it is vitally important and totally fit for purpose, so I was delighted to find he is also a fan of Block Design’s innovative, colourful and functional desk accessories. Like Good Tuesday, Block Design is part of a growing wave of small companies based in Cornwall – combining great design, innovation and ethical business practices (which we feel very proud to part of).

We all agree that the Sketch Desk Tidy would make the most fantastic gift. At just £15 it feels like a true design classic – minimalist, structural – a bit architectural? Jon has it in grey, but we love the red, which looks totally at home with our Leandesk. Lightweight and portable, this clever design works well with our approach to flexible working and would appeal to anyone from our favourite Marketing Director to a stylish Architect to a design savvy teenager.

Dragonfly Lap Top Stand

£42

Dragonfly Lap Top Stand
Dragonfly Lap Top Stand

As I am writing this blog, I have given myself a second pick! This time – a perfect present for a digital nomad or someone who is always on the move.

As soon as we saw this product, we were all struck by the synergy between our two businesses. Dragonfly is a Swedish company set up by two friends, after one of them experienced severe pain from poor postures. Their lap top stand is all about effortless portability, improving posture and it’s made of sustainably sourced bamboo – remind you of anything!?

The stand folds down to a compact handbag size and comes with a natural cotton storage bag. It slots together neatly in seconds and silicon pads keep it in place. It is designed to raise your laptop to optimum viewing height and be used with a separate keyboard and mouse for optimum ergonomic benefit. If used with a Leandesk, this would provide the ultimate sit-stand set up.

Like lots of our favourite products, Dragonfly embodies so many of our shared values – healthy working, thoughtful design, sustainable materials and a pared back Scandinavian aesthetic.

As most of us and our loved ones continue to adapt to hybrid or home-based work, the objects we choose to surround ourselves with matter more than ever — not just for how they function, but for how they make us feel in that careful balance between home and work. Every pick in this guide reflects the values we hold close at Leandesk: thoughtful design, sustainably and durable design and businesses that genuinely care. As the flurry of Black Friday promotions rolls in, we hope you will agree it is worth pausing to choose pieces that are responsibly made, ethically sourced or created by small businesses who pour real passion into what they do. Investing in fewer, better things not only elevates your workspace — it supports the planet, the people and the principles behind them.
