We believe the most responsible way to make furniture is to make less of it, use less to make it, and make what we do create last for as long as possible. Sustainability starts at the first sketch. It shapes the materials we choose, the way we engineer each component, how efficiently we transport it, how easily it can be repaired, and what happens when its first life is over.
Leandesk is deliberately simple. No motors. No electronics. No complicated mechanisms waiting to become obsolete.
Instead, we use intelligent engineering, durable materials and individually replaceable components to create something designed to keep working, year after year.
And we stand behind it.
Every new Leandesk is backed by our Lifetime Guarantee.
Register your Leandesk after purchase and, for as long as you own it, we’ll stand behind the quality of its design, materials and workmanship.
If something covered by the guarantee goes wrong, our first instinct is to repair it. If it can’t be repaired, we’ll replace it.
Because designing something to last means taking responsibility for it long after it leaves us.
A small problem shouldn’t mean a whole new product.
Leandesk has been designed so its components can be disassembled and replaced individually. We keep spare parts in the UK and can help diagnose problems, supply replacements and support repairs to keep your product in use.
The longer a product stays useful, the less often another one needs to be made.
Material efficiency has been part of Leandesk from the beginning.
Rather than adding bulk to create strength, Henry Swanzy’s design uses geometry, tension and high-performance materials to achieve more with less.
The result is a desk that is remarkably strong while remaining lightweight, simple and materially efficient.
No motor.
No electronics.
No MDF or particleboard.
No unnecessary bulk.
Just the materials needed to do the job well.
The majority of every Leandesk is FSC® certified bamboo plywood.
Bamboo is fast growing and regenerative, harvested without removing the plant itself. But being renewable isn’t enough on its own. We use as little of it as we can.
Our design is pared back so that every piece of material has a purpose, helping us minimise both the amount we use and waste during production.
97% FSC® certified bamboo
Our chosen bamboo also meets the E1 emissions standard for wood-based panels.
Claims matter less when they aren’t measured.
The carbon footprint of Leandesk has been independently assessed in accordance with ISO 14067 and GHG Protocol standards, giving us a clear picture of where our impact comes from and where we need to improve.

Most of those emissions come from materials, which gives us a clear focus: use them carefully, use less of them and keep them in use for longer.
We think about the end of a product’s life before it has even begun
Every Leandesk can be completely disassembled, making individual components easier to repair, replace, reuse or recycle.
100% disassemblable
97% of components reusable or recyclable
But recycling should be the last resort. Our priority is always to keep the whole product useful for as long as possible.
Sometimes a Leandesk is no longer right for its owner long before it has reached the end of its useful life.
Our take-back scheme helps keep those desks in circulation.
Return your Leandesk to us and we’ll assess it at our Falmouth workshop. Wherever possible, we’ll refurbish it so it can be sold again or donated and continue doing the job it was designed to do.
Because we would rather see a Leandesk change hands than become waste. Email support@leandesk.com to learn more about our take-back scheme.
We applied the same question to our packaging that we apply to the desk itself:
Could we use less? Could it be better?
Leandesk packaging is made from 100% FSC® certified cardboard and has been designed to protect the product without unnecessary material.
The desk itself packs remarkably flat, helping us use space efficiently in storage and transport too.

Less volume means more efficient transport from factory to customer.
Our manufacturing partner in Vietnam is close to the bamboo supply that forms the majority of every Leandesk.
We’ve visited the factory frequently and chosen a manufacturing environment that reflects our expectations for quality, efficiency and working conditions.
Solar panels provide around 60% of the factory’s power during the summer months, while an alarmed air-filtration system helps maintain a clean working environment.
Responsible design has to include how something is made, not just what it is made from.
Our first responsibility is to understand and reduce the emissions created by our own products and supply chain.
Some emissions remain unavoidable today.
Alongside our work to reduce them, we support the Cùl Mòr peatland restoration project in Scotland through Forest Carbon. Peatland restoration can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions while supporting biodiversity, drought resilience and healthier ecosystems.
For 2025, we purchased 10 tonnes of Pending Issuance Units through the project, more than the total measured carbon footprint of our products for that year.
We see this as additional action, not an alternative to reducing our own impact.
The best product is one worth keeping.
Sustainability isn’t a material, certification or number on a report.
It’s a way of thinking.
Use less. Waste less. Make things repairable. Keep them useful. Take responsibility for what happens next.
And above all, design things people will want to live with for a very long time.
That’s what we’re working towards.
