Low carbon by design, climate positive by choice

Low Carbon Furniture, with Leandesk and Forest Carbon Collaboration

From day one, we’ve been committed to designing and delivering workspaces that tread as lightly as possible on the planet. Environmental responsibility is central to our ESG strategy and our carbon impact is a key part of that.

Our desks are engineered with the full lifecycle in mind. We have applied cradle-to-grave thinking at every stage—from the materials we source, to how our products are shipped, stored and packaged. We’re proud to have achieved exceptionally low carbon efficiency ratings: our desks have a verified carbon footprint of just 10.70 kg CO₂e and 12.82 kg CO₂e* respectively, significantly lower than any other desk we’ve seen on the market.

Despite this, we recognise there is so much more we can do. While we’re continuing to reduce our impact wherever we can—both in our operations and our products—some emissions remain hard to avoid. These so-called “hard-to-abate” emissions are a challenge for every business, including ours and we wanted to address these in a meaningful and tangible way.

We decided to Partner with Forest Carbon** and followed their suggestion to invest in a peatland restoration project in the Scottish Highlands, that has been certified with the Peatland Code. The restoration of this peatland is set to deliver significant environmental benefits, from reducing GHG emissions to promoting biodiversity and enhancing drought resilience by reducing soil erosion. As a Special Area of Conservation, Cùl Mòr is also home to both Otters and Freshwater Pearl Mussels. The project forms part of the Glencanisp and Drumunie Estates owned by The Assynt Foundation, a community run charity.

We aren’t claiming to be carbon neutral, as this risks oversimplifying the complexity of dealing with emissions, but we have made a commitment to the future of this fantastic project by purchasing 10 Pending Issuance Units (each ‘PIU’ represents 1 tCO2e of emission reduction anticipated to be delivered over 55 years) more than the total carbon footprint of our products for 2025, from raw materials all the way to arriving at your door***.

Please keep in touch with us as we continue to strive to be better.  We welcome all queries and suggestions – so please contact us to find our more.
