Leandesk has sustainability built into its design, with Cradle to Grave thinking applied at each stage.

We believe great design means great consideration of sustainability. From the very first sketch to the final product, every decision we make considers the full life cycle of our desks — the materials we use, how they’re made, how they’re used, and what happens when they reach the end of their life.

Designed for Circularity

Leandesk Bamboo Original has a verified carbon footprint of just 12.28kg CO₂e over a five-year life cycle, with 68% of emissions coming from material sourcing.

Leandesk Bamboo Compact has a verified carbon footprint of just 10.70kg CO₂e over a five-year life cycle, with 69% of emissions coming from material sourcing.

Designed for circularity, 97% of components are reusable or recyclable and 100% can be disassembled.

Independently Certified, Naturally Responsible

Leandesk has been independently certified using ISO 14067 and GHG Protocol standards.

97% of each desk is made of FSC certified bamboo plywood and meets E1 Emissions standard. Material waste in production is minimal.

Leandesk can positively support attainment of WELL, LEED and BREEAM certification.

FSC Certified

Design

The Leandesk is pared back to its functional essentials and is designed for minimal wastage and maximum functionality.

Every element of the Leandesk has been rigorously scrutinised, prototyped and tested. It has been through numerous iterations, with different materials tried for almost every element. The two constants, and where the concept began: the Dyneema and the cleat – strength and adjustability.

Materials

Leandesk is 97% (by volume) FSC certified bamboo and each Leandesk uses very little of it. Including waste, one ‘Leandesk Original’ uses less than 0.017 cu.m/0.6 cu.ft, or 7.3 kg.

Bamboo is actually a grass, which is ‘harvested’ to let the plant regrow – incredibly fast! Average growth rate 75-400mm per day, the fastest recorded was an unbelievable 1.2m in a day.

Our chosen bamboo is both FSC Certified and meets E1 emission level as per GB/T 17657-2013 standards for wood-based panels.

Carbon/Climate Change Mitigation

We recognise the importance of focussing on measuring and then reducing our own emissions and those in our supply chain, first and foremost. However, there are associated emissions that remain unavoidable. In recognition of this we’ve chosen to support the wonderful Cùl Mòr peatland restoration project in partnership with Forest Carbon.

The restoration of this peatland is set to deliver significant environmental benefits, from reducing GHG emissions to promoting biodiversity and enhancing drought resilience by reducing soil erosion. We have purchased 10 tonnes of carbon (Pending Issuance Units, which means a promise of emission reduction delivered over 55 years) – this is more than the total carbon footprint of our products for 2025.

Logistics and Transport

The Leandesk transports incredibly efficiently with the outer box measuring just 170 x 42 x 6cm. One boxed up Leandesk ‘Original’ weighing less than 11kg.

Use and Repair

Leandesks have been designed and made to last. In the event of any part degrading, we can supply replacement parts.

Packaging

The Leandesk comes in 100% FSC certified carboard packaging. It was designed by our old friends at Tin Horse, absolute experts in their field.

Production Standards

Our (frequently visited) Vietnamese manufacturer is a beacon of progressive practise: PV solar panels provide 60% of their power during summer months, the factory is clean and extremely well ordered, with an alarmed air purification system ensuring a healthy working environment.
